1. Do we need to use Tableau, or can you build custom dashboards?

You don't need Power BI to build powerful web dashboard in Hedgineer. However, many firms already have Tableau licenses, trained analysts, and existing dashboards they want to preserve. In those cases, integrating the Hedgineer platform with Tableau is faster and leverages your team's existing skills. We're flexible: if Tableau fits your workflow, we'll make it seamless. If custom applications better serve your needs, we'll build those instead. Many clients use both—Tableau for self-service reporting and custom apps for specialized workflows like trade analytics or real-time monitoring.

2. How do you integrate with our existing Tableau deployment?

We connect to your existing Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud environment and create dedicated data sources pointing to the Hedgineer platform (typically in Snowflake or Databricks). These data sources appear alongside your existing ones, so analysts can build workbooks combining Hedgineer data with other internal datasets. We work with your Tableau admins to configure permissions, set up projects/folders, and establish refresh schedules. If you use Tableau's data modeling layer (formerly "logical layer"), we can integrate there as well. We don't require administrative access to your full Tableau environment—just permissions to publish data sources and workbooks to designated projects.

4. How does authentication and security work?

We implement row-level security (RLS) at the data source level, ensuring analysts only see portfolios, accounts, or securities they're authorized to access. This is enforced in Snowflake or Databricks before data reaches Tableau, so there's no risk of accidental exposure. For Tableau Server or Cloud, we use Connected Apps or trusted authentication to enable SSO—analysts log in once to Tableau and are automatically authenticated to the underlying data sources without additional prompts. If you have specific compliance requirements (audit logging, data masking, access reviews), we configure those at the database layer. All connections use encrypted channels (HTTPS, TLS) and follow your firm's network security policies (private endpoints, VPNs, firewall rules).
