Integration Details

We love Snowflake. It's our preferred platform for vendor data access and analytics.

Snowflake lays the groundwork for a scalable data strategy that requires minimal platform or maintenance resources while delivering enterprise-grade performance. Whether you need us to create and manage a new Snowflake account for you or want us to work seamlessly within your existing Snowflake environment, we provide comprehensive data management as a service that makes vendor data instantly accessible and your analytics workflows effortless.

Snowflake Data Share is our preferred method for accessing vendor data. The zero-copy, zero-ETL architecture means you get live, automatically updated data from providers like FactSet, S&P Global, MSCI, Bloomberg, and hundreds more through the Snowflake Marketplace—without any data movement, transformation pipelines, or storage overhead. Data appears instantly in your account, fully governed and ready to query.

Our Snowflake integration delivers:

Zero-Copy Data Sharing:

  • Instant access to 2700+ data products from 670+ providers on Snowflake Marketplace
  • Live vendor data updates with zero latency—changes appear in real-time without ETL
  • No storage costs for shared data—you only pay for compute when querying
  • Cross-cloud and cross-region sharing (AWS, Azure, GCP) with unified governance

Full Analytics Platform Support:

  • If you want to use Snowflake for all of your analytics, we fully support that
  • Normalized vendor data mapped to your security master and ready for BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
  • Pre-built data models for portfolio analytics, performance attribution, and risk reporting
  • Dynamic tables for declarative pipeline management—define transformations once, Snowflake handles scheduling
  • Streams and tasks for complex event-driven workflows and incremental processing

Enterprise Data Governance:

  • Row-level security policies for granular access control across teams and datasets
  • Column-level masking for sensitive data (PII, account numbers, proprietary positions)
  • Automated audit logging and data lineage for compliance requirements
  • Secure views to protect underlying SQL logic while sharing insights

AI-Ready Architecture:

  • Snowflake Cortex AI integration for native LLM access (Claude, GPT, Llama, Mistral) within your data
  • SQL-based ML functions for forecasting, anomaly detection, and classification
  • Cortex AISQL for querying unstructured data (documents, transcripts, filings) using natural language
  • Combined with our Anthropic integration to build agents that reason over your Snowflake data

Modern Data Engineering:

  • Gen2 Standard Warehouses delivering 2.1x faster analytics performance (announced June 2025)
  • Adaptive Compute for automatic resource sizing without manual tuning
  • Support for structured, semi-structured (JSON, Parquet), and unstructured data in one platform
  • Time-travel and zero-copy cloning for testing, development, and disaster recovery

You retain complete control and ownership of your data. We handle the platform setup, vendor integrations, data modeling, and pipeline engineering—whether in a Snowflake account we manage for you or within your existing multi-tenant environment with proper governance boundaries.

FAQs

1. How does Snowflake Cortex AI integration work?

Snowflake Cortex brings AI directly to your data without moving it out of your governed environment. We configure Cortex LLM functions so you can call models like Claude, GPT, Llama, or Mistral Large directly in SQL queries—perfect for summarizing earnings transcripts, extracting sentiment from news, or generating investment thesis narratives. Cortex ML functions provide forecasting, anomaly detection, and classification for time-series analytics like predicting volatility or detecting unusual trading patterns. We also integrate Cortex with our Anthropic agents: your AI assistants can query Snowflake data, reason over portfolio positions, and generate insights using natural language. It's the best of both worlds—Snowflake's data governance with Anthropic's advanced reasoning, all working together seamlessly.

2. Why do you prefer Snowflake Data Share over APIs for vendor data?

Snowflake Data Share eliminates the entire ETL pipeline. With traditional APIs, you need to extract data, transform it, load it into storage, manage incremental updates, handle schema changes, and monitor for failures—all of which requires engineering time and introduces latency. Data Share gives you instant, zero-copy access to vendor data that's automatically updated in real-time. There's no data movement, no storage costs for the shared data, and no transformation lag. You simply query the shared database as if it were your own. It's faster, cheaper, more reliable, and requires zero maintenance. For vendors that offer Data Share (FactSet, MSCI, S&P Global, etc.), it's always our first choice.

3. Can you work within our existing Snowflake account?

Absolutely. Many of our clients have established Snowflake environments with existing governance, security policies, and team workflows. We integrate seamlessly by creating dedicated schemas and databases within your account, respecting your role-based access controls and data governance rules. We work with your IT and data teams to ensure proper separation of concerns—our pipelines run in isolated warehouses with clear cost attribution, and we adhere to your tagging, naming conventions, and compliance requirements. You maintain full administrative control while we handle the data engineering and vendor integrations.

4. How do you handle vendor data from the Snowflake Marketplace?

We connect directly to vendor listings on the Snowflake Marketplace, establish the Data Share, and immediately begin mapping vendor identifiers to your security master. For example, if you subscribe to FactSet Fundamentals via Marketplace, we map FactSet entity IDs to your Bloomberg IDs, CUSIP, ISIN, and internal portfolio IDs. From there, the vendor data flows into our normalized data models where it's joinable with your OMS positions, fund admin NAV, and other datasets. We monitor for vendor schema changes and data quality issues, alerting you if corrections are published. The entire process is automated—you get vendor data integrated into your analytics workflows within hours of Marketplace activation.

5. What about data governance and security?

We implement enterprise-grade governance using Snowflake's native capabilities. Row-level security policies ensure traders only see their book's positions, analysts access their coverage universe, and compliance sees everything. Column-level masking protects sensitive fields like account numbers or beneficial owners. All data access is logged with query history and access history for audit trails. We design secure views that expose curated datasets while hiding underlying base tables and transformation logic. For clients with regulatory requirements (SEC, FINRA, GDPR), we configure retention policies, data classification tags, and automated compliance reports. Security is built in from day one, not bolted on later.

6. Can Snowflake be our primary analytics platform?

Yes, and we highly recommend it. Snowflake excels as a unified analytics platform where all your data—positions, pricing, risk models, fundamentals, alternative data—lives in one governed environment. We build semantic layers and data marts optimized for BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Looker, so analysts can self-serve with drag-and-drop reporting. For quantitative teams, we provide Python/R notebook integrations and SQL-based ML with Cortex functions. Portfolio managers get pre-built dashboards for performance attribution, risk exposure, and trade analytics. Everything queries the same golden source of data, eliminating version control issues and "which spreadsheet is correct" debates. It's analytics infrastructure that actually scales.

7. What if my firm doesn't have a Snowflake account?

If you currently don't have a Snowflake account but would like to scale your data platform with it, our team can work with you to set it up, connect it to your cloud subscription (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and migrate your data to it. We handle the entire onboarding: account provisioning, role-based access controls, cost optimization settings, and initial data ingestion. You get a production-ready Snowflake environment without needing internal data engineering resources. We also provide ongoing management, monitoring, and optimization so you can focus on analytics instead of infrastructure.
