Integration Details
Connect with Bloomberg to directly enrich your Hedgineer platform with market data, reference data, analytics, and real-time feeds across your investable universe. Our Bloomberg integration supports the following ingestion and connectivity mechanisms:
Server API (SAPI) — Provides access to Bloomberg's full dataset (real-time, historical, reference, analytics) via a server-grade API designed for downstream applications. SAPI supports multiple languages (C++, Java, .NET, Python) and can be deployed as on-prem, Bloomberg Appliance, or cloud-hosted.
Data License & Data License+ — Bulk, end-of-day or scheduled data feeds delivered via SFTP, REST, or SOAP. Ideal for non-real-time use cases: reference data, fundamental metrics, corporate actions, historical time series.
Security Master Sync — We synchronize Bloomberg's master data (identifiers, mappings, security attributes, corporate events) into your Hedgineer security master, ensuring consistency between your internal universe and Bloomberg's data.
B-PIPE / Bloomberg Market Data Feed — High-throughput real-time streaming of global pricing, order book, contributions, and analytics via Bloomberg's managed feed. Supports cloud-based or on-prem connectivity (e.g., via Azure Private Link).
Additionally, we support Bloomberg PORT integration, so that your portfolio analytics (positions, tags, PnL, attribution) can flow from Hedgineer into PORT or back such that PORT always reflects the "golden" data in Hedgineer. This ensures consistency between your internal systems and Bloomberg PORT's analytics layer.
Key implementation notes:
- Entitlements & rights management: We respect Bloomberg licensing rules, so not all data is universally sharable.
- Usage tracking & alerting: We instrument all Bloomberg API calls to track your usage and enforce limits.
- Data normalization and reconciliation: We perform data validation, reconciliation, mapping (e.g. tickers, symbology) between Bloomberg and your internal universe to avoid mismatches.
- Latency and throughput management: We support batching, backpressure handling, streaming window aggregation for ingest scaling.
- Failover and resilience: In real-time feeds, we provide fallback strategies (e.g. cache, alternate data sources) to maintain service continuity.
- Compliance & auditability: Every data record fetched is logged with timestamps, request IDs, and usage metadata.
FAQs
1. Can everyone in my firm see Bloomberg data through Hedgineer?
We enforce role-based entitlements on all Bloomberg-sourced data, so visibility aligns strictly with your Bloomberg licensing and internal permissioning. Data coming from some Bloomberg offerings (like SAPI) can only be shown to users in your firm with a terminal; others may be broadly distributed across the firm.
2. Do you support real-time Bloomberg feeds in Hedgineer?
Yes. We ingest real-time data from SAPI and B-PIPE into Hedgineer with minimal latency.
3. How do you guard against exceeding Bloomberg license limits or violating redistributions?
We embed a usage monitor that tracks all Bloomberg API calls (including B-PIPE messages, SAPI, Data License calls). We set up automated alerts (via email, Slack, Teams) when thresholds such as 75%, 90%, and 100% of monthly or daily limits are hit. We also enforce rate limiting and cutoff guards so your system will stop issuing additional Bloomberg calls if you are near your contract cap. We reconcile usage monthly and supply audit logs.
4. How do you handle data normalization, matching, and reconciliation?
We maintain a mapping layer that reconciles Bloomberg identifiers (BBG Tickers, FIGIs, etc.) to your internal symbology. We run reconciliation jobs and trigger alerts (via email, Slack, Teams) when discrepencies are found.
5. How do you integrate Bloomberg's PORT module with Hedgineer?
We ingest your portfolio metadata, positions, tags, and analytics from PORT into Hedgineer (or vice versa). This allows PORT's analytics to run off the same data as your internal systems, and ensures consistency (i.e. no drift between Bloomberg PORT and your internal view). Updates in Hedgineer can also be fed back to PORT for reconciliation.
